CORNING — The age-old debate about separating New York City from the rest of New York State is gaining momentum, spurred by a new proposal that has the backing of state lawmakers representing the Hornell area.
A group trying to amend the New York State Constitution to separate the state into three autonomous regions is planning a fall outreach to build support for the effort.
Divide NYS Caucus Inc. has scheduled five public meetings around New York State this month, including a Saturday, Oct. 26 session in the City of Corning.
